Initial Brief
Send us your project details, including design ideas, material preferences, stairwell measurements, and any photos. Let us know your ideal timeline.
On-site Visit
Our joiner visits your site to take measurements and discuss your project in detail, offering possible solutions suited to your needs and space.
Design & Quote
Back in our workshop, we create initial sketches and CAD drawings based on your brief.
We then send you the first version (V1) of the structural design, along with a basic cost estimate for the initial build and labour.
Finalizing Your Project
Once the structure is approved, you can confirm details such as materials and finishes, plus any additional services such as 2nd fit options (Spindle and Balustrades) options and Under-stair Storage.
Surrey Staircases will then provide a final estimate and design file (V2) based on your choices. Material samples are available on request for you to make informed decisions.
Manufacturing
After your approval, we begin manufacturing.
We source high-quality, sustainable timber from our trusted suppliers.
Our CNC machine cuts your stair strings with millimetre precision, whilst our skilled craftsmen handle all 3D and detailed joinery by hand.
Before any delivery, we do a dry fit in the workshop to ensure your staircase fits together perfectly.
Installation
On-site, we start by clearing the area, removing your old staircase if required.
We then install the staircase in sections on the ground, starting with the strings and treads, before lifting the skeleton into posistion.
When fixed, your new staricase is made safe, ready for your 2nd fix and/or additional building work to continue.
Most installations are completed in a single day, but this may vary depending on the complexity of your project.
Second Fix & Finishing Touches
If Spindles, Balustrades, or Under-stair Storage storage are part of your order, we will return to complete the second fix.
We coordinate this stage to fit within your overall building schedule, ensuring there’s no disruption to other work.
Completion & Aftercare
Once our services are complete, all waste is removed from site.
All customers are provided with advice on finishes (waxes, stains and varnishes), alongside a 2-year guarantee (protecting them from any unexpected movement, creaks or material deterioration i.e. warping).
